New Delhi, The Defense Ministry on Saturday rejected reports that a model of the Chinook helicopter installed by the DRDO had gone missing at the 2020 edition of DefExpo.

Defense Ministry spokesperson A Bharat Bhushan Babu said the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) never installed any helicopter model in Lucknow.

"The news circulating about the disappearance of Chinook helicopter model installed by DRDO in Lucknow during DefExpo 2020 is misleading," he said in a brief statement.

Babu said, "Chinook is made by Boeing and DRDO has never installed any helicopter model in Lucknow. DefExpo2020 was an incident-free exhibition and no product or model went missing during its event."

DRDO also termed the reports as "misleading".

"There are reports going around that DRDO had installed Chinook helicopter model in Lucknow during DefExpo 2020 and the model is now missing," it said on 'X'.

"This information is misleading as DRDO has never established any helicopter mode in Lucknow," it said.

Officials said a helicopter model was in a dilapidated condition in Sector 20 of Vrindavan Scheme area in Lucknow and it was removed after the recommendation of security personnel as a helipad was being constructed for the Prime Minister's visit to the city for an event.
