New Delhi [India], Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) in collaboration with Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) and Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) organized the second National Webinar on Tuesday.

The program focused on recently enacted criminal laws: the Indian Civil Code (BNS), the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS), and the Indian Evidence Act (BSA). This initiative aims to increase nationwide awareness and understanding of these transformative legal changes, especially for the benefit of women and children.

The first such webinar was held on June 21, 2024.

According to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the webinar, which ensured greater reach and engagement across various sections of the society, delivered opening addresses by the Secretary of MoPR and Joint Secretary of MoWCD and MoRD, who highlighted the key provisions of the new laws. ,

Experts from the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and MOWCD provided in-depth information on the positive impacts of these laws on women and children, and emphasized on features related to their safety, dignity, security and protection.

The event saw participation of approximately 50 lakh stakeholders, including elected representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions, especially women representatives, women self-help groups and various stakeholders from MWCD, MoRD and MoPR.

The passage of these reform laws is in line with the Prime Minister's broader vision of strengthening the legal framework to empower women and children in India.
