He said, “I have sought a report from the DGP and the Chief Secretary on this incident. Interstate buses should not be damaged. Although they have not caused any damage to the bus, it is not right to stop it and climb on its roof. I have written to the central government about this incident,” the Goa Chief Minister said.

While members of water management authority Mhadei Pravah inspected the stretch of the river in Karnataka on Saturday, some persons allegedly stopped an interstate bus in Belagavi.

“I have personally seen how the flow of water is diverted towards Malaprabha. The Pravah team has inspected it. So they (Karnataka) were opposing the inspection by this team,” Sawant said.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that some people in Karnataka's Belagavi are burning his photograph over the Mhadei river issue, which shows that his government is on the 'right path'.

“Mhadei Pravah is an independent authority. I don't know why Karnataka is unhappy with their inspection. It is important to allow them to conduct unbiased observations. Their report will be authentic,” he said.

“We are on the right track. Let Pravah submit the report. I am confident and confident that his decision will help Goa,” the Chief Minister said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought approval for the Kalasa Banduri drinking water project.

Responding to the meeting, Chief Minister Sawant had said that the Center will take Goa into confidence before taking any decision.

Mhadei originates in Karnataka and joins the Arabian Sea at Panaji.

Karnataka plans to build a dam on the 28.8 km long river stretch that flows through it to divert water into its Malaprabha basin in the north.
