Nagpur: A woman accused of running over two people while driving her Mercedes car under the influence of alcohol in Nagpur surrendered before police on Monday, more than four months after the accident, and was later arrested, officials said. .

Initially booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving and recklessly causing hurt to a person, police later filed additional criminal charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder against Malu following a public outcry. The woman was initially granted bail. However, the police later sought to arrest him again, following which Malu had to approach the High Court for pre-arrest bail.
