The Expenditure Department had issued instructions regarding increasing the rates of dearness allowance from the existing 46 percent of the basic salary to 50 percent from January 1.
As per the decisions of the Government on the recommendations of the Seventh CPC, "The maximum limit of retirement gratuity and death gratuity will be increased from 25 per cent - Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh on reaching 50 per cent of the dearness allowance rates. The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare said that this increase will be effective from January 1, 2024.
"It should be mentioned that retirement gratuity and death gratuity depend on the basic pay last drawn and the period of service rendered by the employee," the ministry said.
