Mumbai: Equity benchmark indices declined in early trade on Friday amid weak global trends and continued foreign fund outflows.

The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 185.42 points to 73,478.30. NSE Nift fell 50.35 points to 22,353.50.

Among Sensex constituents, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Nestle, Hindustan Unilever, Larsen & Toubro and Bajaj Finserv were major laggards.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and UltraTech Cement were among the gainers.

In Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai were lower while Hong Kong was trading in the green.

Wall Street ended Thursday in negative territory.

According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 776.49 crore on Thursday.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.25 percent to US$83.48 per barrel.

On Thursday, the BSE benchmark closed 676.69 points or 0.93 per cent higher at 73,663.72. NSE Nifty rose 203.30 points or 0.92 per cent to 22,403.85
