Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh)[India], Olympian and former Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic and Universiade champion Manu Bhaker emerged as the most successful shooting athlete at the inaugural Olympic Selection Trials (OST) Rifle/Pistol by winning the women's 10m air pistol. OST T4 match on the final day of the trials at the MP State Shooting Academy (MPSSA) Range, it was her fourth overall win in the trials in two events. Manu shot 240.8 in the OST T4 in the women's 25m pistol. In the air pistol final on Sunday, Levin finished third behind reigning Asian Games champion Palak, 4.4 points behind runner-up Rhythm Sangwan. Three other finals took place that day. Manu's fellow Tokyo Olympian Elaveni Valarivan made a splash at the MPSSA ranges early in the day, winning the women's 10 air rifle OST T4 with an effort of 254.3, breaking the current record set by China's Han Jiayu in Baku this month. 0.3 more than the world record 254.0. With Ramita (253.3) and Mehul Ghosh (230.3) finishing second and third respectively, Divyansh Singh Panwar then won the men's air rifle OST T4 with a score of 253.3, just 0.4 shy of his own existing world record. Arjun Babauta (250.0) and Rudraksh Patil (229.5) followed for the other available podium points. In the men's 10m Air Pistol OST T4 final, Ravinder Singh emerged victorious with a score of 242.2 in the final. He was followed by Varun Tomar (239.4) in second place and Sarabjot Singh (218.9) in third place, who finished all 32 trial matches, spread evenly across the eight individual rifle and pistol Olympic events. The first two trials were held at the Dr Karan Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi before the caravan shifted to Bhopal. The next assignment for India's rifle and pistol shooters will be the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle/Pistol, starting on May 31. June 08, 2024, in Munich, Germany.
