He took charge from Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena at the State Secretariat Lok Seva Bhawan.

The previous government had extended the tenure of Jena by six months till June 30, who was scheduled to retire on December 31, 2023.

"I step down as Secretary Chief today at 3.30 pm. I welcome Manoj Ahuja, one of my good friends from the 1990 batch (from my Kalahandi days), as my successor as Sub Collector of Dharamgarh and I am happy that today He has taken over the post @SecyChief. Best wishes to him,” Jenna wrote on X.

The state General Administration and Public Grievances Department, through a notification on Friday, announced the name of Manoj Ahuja to replace Jena as the new Chief Secretary of the state.

The central government has recently sent back Ahuja, who was holding the post of Secretary, Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, to his parent cadre on June 25.
