The Chief Minister met the injured security personnel in the hospital and said that the miscreants would be brought to justice.

Two policemen including the vehicle driver were injured in the incident. The security team had gone to Jiribam to prepare for Singh's visit.

Reacting to the incident, Biren Singh called it "highly condemnable" and said it amounts to an attack on the "people of the state".

“This is very unfortunate and highly condemnable. This is a direct attack on the Chief Minister, that is, a direct attack on the people of the state.Therefore, the state government will have to do something. So, I will take a decision from all my colleagues and we will take the decision,” Biren Singh told reporters.

Biren Singh was expected to visit Jiribam following reports of fresh violence in the area.
