Imphal (Manipur) [India], A joint operational team of Army and Manipur Police commandos on Sunday captured an armed cadre of KYKL in Huikap area of Imphal East district.
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of Army and Manipur Police commandos launched a search operation on June 9, 2024, an official release said.
The operation resulted in the capture of an armed member of the KYKL (SOREPA) faction. The man was found to be in possession of a 9mm pistol, three grenades and additional ammunition.
The arrested person and recovered weapons have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation and action.
Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup is a Meitei insurgent group active in the Indian state of Manipur.
It is a separatist organization and is banned by the Government of India.[1] [2] The group displays a strong ethno-nationalist and nativist rhetoric in its declarations.
