Imphal: Two members of radical organization Arambai Tenggol have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and attack of four policemen in Manipur's Imphal East district. Officials gave this information on Monday.

He said those arrested have been identified as Taibanganba Sanoujam (25) and Moirangthem Bob (40).

"A search operation is underway to arrest other accused involved in the incident," police said in a statement.

On Saturday, around 10 armed men abducted four police personnel at Koirengi along NH2. They were blindfolded and attacked, officials said.

The policemen were returning to Kangpokpi after official work in Imphal when the incident occurred. He was released after the attack.

The policemen were identified as Ram Bahadur Karki, Ramesh Budhathoki, Mano Khatiwoda and Mohammed Taj Khan.

The Committee of Tribal Unity (COTU) observed a bandh in Kangpokpi district on Sunday in protest against the attack.
