Mumbai, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Friday that the music of the Mangeshkar family preaches devotion as well as patriotism.

On the occasion of the release of the book 'Swarswamini Asha' written on the great singer Asha Bhosle, who turned 90 last September, Bhagwat said that the purpose of music is not just entertainment, but its impact should also be beneficial for the society.

This book contains the works of 90 authors and contains some rare photographs of this young versatile singer.

“I had respect for the Mangeshkar family even before I met them. His music is such that it not only preaches music but also devotion and patriotism,” he said.

On this occasion, Bhosale recalled his association with Hindutva thinker VD Savarkar. His brother music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar was also present in this program.

He also discussed how various music directors have left a mark on his singing.

He said before his 90th birthday last year that music, like a flowing river, never ends.

Asha Bhosle's elder sister and music queen Lata Mangeshkar passed away in February 2022 at the age of 92.
