Kolkata: Noted lawyer Prashant Bhushan has predicted that the BJP will not cross the 200-seat mark in the upcoming parliamentary elections as "nationwide sentiment" against the party is very strong and a large section of the people consider it a "threat". ''Accepts. democracy".

It is noteworthy that Bhushan also said that if the Congress is successful in removing the NDA from power, then it should lead the opposition Indian faction in Parliament and not Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress.

Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent comment on 'mutton mangalsutra and buffalo', Bhushan alleged that the Prime Minister has realized that the election is slipping away from his grip and that is why he is giving inflammatory speeches out of frustration.

“I think there is a very strong sentiment against the BJP for many reasons. They (BJP) are seen as a threat to democracy. He is also seen abusing his power to jail opposition leaders and block the supply of money. So one thing Bhushan said in an interview here is, "There is a lot of anger against him."

Bhushan was recently in Kolkata to attend a seminar organized by a group of NGOs and activists.

The lawyer-activist further alleged that BJP's "communal propaganda" was also one of the many reasons behind his declining popularity."By and large, people don't like these things. They see it as an attempt to divide the country on communal lines which will weaken the country. So, they feel the BJP is not going to make a comeback. In my view, they should struggle to cross 200 seats in the next Lok Sabha,” Bhushan said.

On former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's comment that "no one in India has the potential to become the next Prime Minister at this time, only Modi", the lawyer disagreed, arguing that only staunch supporters still want Modi to be the Prime Minister. See it as the only option."I don't think most people are now saying that (Modi is the only person to become the next prime minister). Apart from his (BJP's) staunch supporters, most people are not unanimous," he said.

He said, "This is mostly because of the kind of statements that he (Modi) has been making in his campaigns that Congress will take away your 'Mangalsutra' buffalo and Ambani-Adani are giving them a lot of black money. These comments were made. Are." In frustration, he clearly sees that the election is lagging.,

Earlier this month, during a rally in Banaskantha in Gujarat and earlier in Banswara in Rajasthan, Modi had alleged that if the Congress came to power, it would "take away the gold mangalsutras of women" and distribute them among Muslims and "their Buffaloes will also snatch it”. ,

Modi had said, "Be careful, Congress will snatch your 'buffalo'. If you have two buffaloes, Congress will snatch one if you win the elections. You will be able to leave your child with only one buffalo." ,

Bhushan said that if the opposition alliance forms the next government at the Centre, it will be the Congress that will be its face and the Trinamool Congress will definitely be a part of it.However, he said he fails to see TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee as the face of the opposition group.

He said, "If the opposition government is formed then definitely Trinamool Congress should be a part of it. But I do not think that Mamata Banerjee will be the face of the government. I think the face of the government should be someone from the Congress." Get maximum number of seats among the opposition parties,” Bhushan said.
