Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh): A group of people publicly thrashed a 36-year-old man and then partially chopped off his head and mustache on suspicion of theft at an agricultural produce market in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district, police said. Got it shaved. Said on Friday.

The accused, numbering nine, on Thursday made a video of the victim, Mangilal Dhakad, assaulting and behaving abusively at the agricultural produce market in Manasa, about 30 km from the district headquarters, and uploaded it on social media.

Dhakad said the accused, including some traders, attacked and humiliated him as they suspected him of stealing mustard from the agricultural produce market.

Neemuch Superintendent of Police Ankit Jaiswal said that as soon as the incident came to light on Thursday evening, he asked the Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) to take action.

On Dhakad's complaint, a case has been registered against nine people, including main accused Vipin Birla and barber Ghanshyam, who partially cut the victim's head and moustache.

Jaiswal said, he has been charged under IPC sections 294 (abuse), 147 (rioting) and 355 (use of criminal force to insult any person).

The police officer said that a search operation has been started to nab the accused.
