Gurugram: A man here allegedly strangulated his wife to death and tried to make it look like suicide by hanging her body from a fan to avoid police action. Officials gave this information on Wednesday.

He said that after being arrested on Tuesday, the 40-year-old gardener confessed to the murder.

He claimed that he committed the alleged act after suspecting that he was having an affair with his wife.

According to the police, Satish Kumar informed the police on Tuesday morning that his wife had hanged herself in their rented house in Indira Colony near Silokheda village, following which a police team reached the spot, where Kumar along with his two children were found dead. Were present together.The police took the body into custody and sent it to the mortuary. Teams from the Crime and Forensic Science Laboratory also visited the spot and found the suicide suspicious.

The police informed the family of the deceased and his family reached Gurugram. He said that the deceased's brother Sudama has filed a complaint against Kumar.

“My sister was married about 12 years ago and lived in Indira Colony near Silokheda village with her husband and two children.After marriage, my sister's husband used to quarrel and beat her. When we got information about her death, we reached her house where we learned that on Monday night, my brother-in-law Satish beat up my sister and then strangulated her to death,” Sudama, a native of Kanpur, said in his complaint. Following the complaint, an FIR was lodged at the Sector 40 police station on Tuesday and the police arrested Kumar, who is a native of Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh.

A Gurugram police spokesperson said, "During police interrogation, the accused revealed that he had doubts about his wife's character and strangulated her to death. The accused was produced before a city court today and sent to judicial custody. Has been sent."
