Jabalpur: A 36-year-old transgender was allegedly stabbed by a man after she refused to pay for liquor, leaving her seriously injured in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur city. Police gave this information on Saturday.

Police officer Manas Dwivedi told reporters that the injured transgender was admitted to a government hospital after the Friday night incident, when Ashish Yadav attacked her with a knife.

He said an FIR has been registered under Indian Penal Code section 327 (voluntarily causing hurt to extort money) and the accused is being searched.

“We are investigating the criminal record of the accused and the aspect of past enmity,” Dwivedi said.
