Thane: A man was sentenced to 10 years in jail by a special POCSO court on Friday for raping a minor girl in Thane's Kopri area.

According to the prosecution, on November 24, 2018, mason Murali Kanhaiyalal Chauhan (24) lured a 5-year-old girl to a toilet in his area and raped her.

While trying to run away after the incident, the victim's father and others caught him.

Special public prosecutors Sandhya Mhatre and Vivek Kadu said ten witnesses were examined during the trial, including the woman who owned the toilet complex and her son.

POCSO Act special judge DS Deshmukh sentenced Chauhan to 10 years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000, he said.
