The officer said preliminary investigation revealed that the man committed suicide by trying to immolate himself inside the car. Since the vehicle did not catch fire, he started bleeding from the nose due to hypoxia stress and died of suffocation.

The deceased was identified as Dhruv Mahajan, a resident of Dayanand Colony of Lajpat Nagar area.

Sharing details, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Rajesh Dev said that at 9:40 am on Thursday, a police control room (PCR) at Kalkaji police station received information that “a dead body, with blood scattered around it, was found inside Was lying." A parked car".

On reaching the spot, which was opposite Paharpur Business Center next to Devika Tower in Nehru Place, a dead body was found with blood all over including the nose on the driver's seat.

"Since all the gates of the car were closed, the car was opened by breaking the rear glass and a man was found lying dead on the steering wheel with his face, thighs and both hands burnt," the DCP said.

The DCP said there was a strong smell of petrol inside the car, the deceased's hair was completely burnt, the steering wheel was partially burnt and there was soot on the T-shirt.

“A crushed water bottle and used matchsticks were also found on the front seat. CCTV of the area was then used and it was found that the deceased had arrived at the scene in his car at around 3:30 pm and about seven minutes later, a huge fire broke out in the car which subsided after about a minute,” where did it go. The DCP said that prima facie it appears that Dhruv committed suicide by attempting self-immolation, later due to hypoxia stress the deceased started bleeding from the nose and died due to suffocation.

“During interrogation, the deceased's sister Purvi Mahajan, who lives in Bangalore, told that Dhruv was heavily in debt. The body has been sent to AIIMS Hospital for post-mortem. Investigation proceedings have been initiated,” the DCP said.
