Noida: A 25-year-old Delhi man died soon after he slipped in a water park located on the premises of a mall in Noida, prompting local police to launch an investigation, officials said.

He said Dhananjay Maheshwari along with his four friends had gone to Entertainment City Water Park in Great India Place (GIP) Mall in Sector 38A under Sector 39 police station limits on Sunday afternoon.

A police spokesperson said, "After collecting the costumes and keeping their belongings in the locker, all the friends went straight to the slide. They arrived one by one and started sliding, when Maheshwari suddenly started having trouble breathing. "

"He sat down on the ground to rest, but as he did not feel any better, he was taken by an ambulance staffed by GIP Mall officials to the nearby Kailash Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead," the spokesperson said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Manish Mishra said that soon after the incident, Maheshwari's family members also reached Noida and the body is being sent for postmortem.

Maheshwari lived in Adarsh ​​Nagar, Shivaji Road Extension, Delhi.

On the cause of death, Mishra said, "We have initiated legal proceedings and the body has been sent for autopsy after which the cause can be confirmed."

On the family's allegation of negligence on the part of the mall management, the police officer said that the claims are being investigated.
