Mumbai, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said the BJP-led NDA government at the Center was unstable and may not complete its term.

Banerjee met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence 'Matoshree' in Bandra area. She will also meet NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar during her visit, she said.

"This government too cannot continue. It is not a stable government," she said at a press conference with Thackeray.

"Khela has started, it will continue," Banerjee said when she was asked to elaborate.

On the Union government's decision to observe June 25, when the Emergency was imposed in 1975, as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas', Banerjee said moments associated with the Emergency were seen more during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure. .

The West Bengal CM said that no one was consulted when the three laws - Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) that replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC) - were passed. the Code of Criminal Procedure. (CrPC) and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively, were introduced in Parliament.

It was passed when a large number of parliamentarians were suspended, she said, adding that many people are afraid of these new laws.

"We do not support Emergency... (but) charity begins at home," she stated.

Referring to the defeat of the Shiv Sena candidate from the north-west Mumbai Lok Sabha seat by 48 votes, Banerjee said similar victories were achieved in many other constituencies.

About the INDIA alliance in her state, she said that the TMC cannot accommodate the Communist Party of India (Marxist) because her party fought against the Left Front and came to power.

Banerjee also said that it was "absolutely unethical" for him to take away the name and symbol of the Thackeray faction, but added that he fought like a tiger. The Shiv Sena split in June 2022 and the party name and 'bow and arrow' symbol were handed over to the faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The WB CM said he would campaign for Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) in the Maharashtra assembly elections likely to be held in October-November.

Both the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress are part of the opposition INDIA group.

This was the first meeting between the two leaders, known to enjoy a good relationship, after the Lok Sabha elections.
