Raiganj/Balurghat, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday accused the BJP of inciting violence during Ram Navami celebrations in the state, while the saffron party demanded an NIA probe into the incidents.

He claimed that the Ram Navami violence in Murshidabad district was "pre-planned" and accused the saffron party of carrying it out ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Police said a blast took place near a procession in Shaktipur area of Murshidabad on Wednesday, injuring a woman.

In Rejinagar area of the district, BJP alleged that stones were pelted at the Ram Navami procession.

“Now, the BJP is busy instigating violence in the state and campaigning around it. Their leaders are directly involved in this.Everything was pre-planned. Why did BJP leaders take out a procession with weapons and court orders? Who told them to do this? Who gave permission to hold rallies with weapons?'' Banerjee said.

He said, "TMC leaders have also taken out rallies but they have not done anything like this. This is because we take out rallies for peace, not to incite violence."

Attacking the Election Commission by terming it as 'BJP's Commission', Banerjee said, 'I want to ask the BJP Commission whether the DIG was removed at the last moment so that the BJP leaders could continue with their vicious plans. Can?'

"The Murshidabad DIG was removed a day before Ram Navami so that you (BJP) could indulge in violence," he claimed at an election rally in Raigan Lok Sabha constituency.

The Chief Minister also claimed that "goons affiliated with the BJP" assaulted police personnel in the district.Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, termed the allegations baseless and demanded an NIA probe into the incidents.

"It was TMC that instigated the violence. I have already requested the Governor to visit those trouble-hit areas. I also demand an NIA investigation into those incidents. If the state does not allow an NIA investigation, I am against it. Will go to court."This," he said.

“Both TMC and BJP are engaged in competitive communalism,” alleged Mohammed Saleem, CPI(M) state secretary and party candidate from Murshidabad constituency.

Banerjee also criticized BJP leader and actor Mithun Chakraborty, once a TMC Rajya Sabha MP, calling him a "traitor who betrayed the party and West Bengal".

He alleged, “Our party had sent Mithun Chakraborty to Rajya Sabha. But they betrayed us.He is a traitor... To fulfill his personal interests, he betrayed West Bengal by bowing before the BJP.

Chakraborty was elected as Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal in February 2016, but he resigned as MP in 2016 and left TMC. He joined the BJP just a month before the state assembly elections in 2021.

Responding to his comment, Chakraborty said, "People will decide who is a traitor."

Terming BJP a 'jumla' party, the TMC supremo accused BJP of "lying" on CAA.Banerjee said, "CAA is a trap to turn legitimate citizens into foreigners. Once you implement CAA, NRC will follow. We will neither allow CAA nor NRC in West Bengal. If you apply If so, you will be designated as a foreigner."

Banerjee criticized Opposition Bloc India's allies – CPI(M) and Congress – for "joining hands with the BJP" in West Bengal and said the opposition front has ceased to exist in the state."There is no Bharat alliance in West Bengal. I played a key role in the formation of the opposition Bharat alliance. Even the name of the alliance was given by me, but here in West Bengal, CPI(M) and Congress are working. BJP is there,” Mr. said.

"If you do not want to defeat BJP then do not cast your vote in favor of Congress and CPI(M)," he said.

In another election rally in Balurghat, the CM termed BJP as a party which always keeps giving threats.

He said, “BJP leaders shamelessly announce that if they come to power, your monthly allowance (under the ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ scheme) will be stopped.,

Banerjee called the BJP a "party of robbers" that has gained "complete control" over central agencies.

He said while the BJP-led central government "withheld" the state's dues under the 100-day work scheme, the ruling TMC ensured that job card holders got 5 days' work salary from the state treasury. .
