New Delhi [India], Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed his sincere gratitude and deepest appreciation for the tireless efforts and selfless dedication of the medical fraternity on the occasion of National Doctors Day on Monday.

"On National Doctor's Day, we express our sincere gratitude and deepest appreciation for the tireless efforts and selfless dedication of our medical fraternity - Doctors, Healthcare Professionals, Frontline Workers, ASHA Workers, Anganwadi Workers , ANM, nurses and medical staff." Kharge posted on X.

"We salute your unwavering commitment to saving lives and your relentless service to humanity," he added.

The Congress leader also honored the legacy of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, a visionary doctor, educationist and freedom fighter who served as the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, on his birth anniversary.

"We also honor the legacy of the illustrious Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a visionary doctor, educationist and freedom fighter, who served as the second Chief Minister of West Bengal and made significant contributions to nation-building. His remarkable life and work continues inspire us," Kharge wrote in X.

Every year on July 1, India celebrates National Doctor's Day. It is a day set aside to commemorate the achievements and devotion of doctors to the well-being and healthcare of society. People celebrate this day by thanking doctors for their tremendous work, compassion and devotion in saving lives and the well-being of all.

National Doctor's Day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.

Roy was born on 1 July 1882 and was instrumental in the advancement of medical education and healthcare services in India.

He was also awarded the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honor for his pioneering work in the field of medicine.
