Male, Fourteen people, including 11 passengers, escaped unhurt when a Maldivian seaplane crashed during landing, according to media reports on Monday.

According to news portal version.mv, the accident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) seaplane, which was traveling from Ba Atoll Seaside Finolhu Resort to The Westin Maldives Miriandhu in the same island, had its right wing float during landing. Was harmed.

The Civil Aviation Authority said there were 11 passengers and three crew members on board the plane, Sun.mv news portal reported.

The CIA, which has begun investigating the crash, said that despite the seaplane being damaged, no one was injured in the accident.

A viral video on social media shows the seaplane sinking into the water as a result of the accident.

TMA, which claims to have the largest seaplane fleet in the world, flies a total of 65 seaplanes, reports Sun.mv.

The Maldives consist of 1,190 coral islands grouped in a double chain of 27 atolls located in the Indian Ocean. The country's area is approximately 90,000 square kilometers, of which only 298 square kilometers is dry land.

Since tourism is the country's main foreign exchange earner, seaplanes are used to transport tourists arriving at Male Airport to the resorts, mostly the southern and northern atolls of the Maldives.
