New Delhi: Filmmaker Maisam Ali's debut feature film "In Retreat" will have its Asia premiere at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

According to a press release, the Hindi and Ladakhi language film will be screened in the Asian Windows section in South Korea.

Presented as a slow-paced drama, "In Retreat" is the story of a man in his 50s who is missing his brother's funeral, at home in a small mountain town in late autumn. Returns. He lingers on the threshold and delays his arrival another night.

Ali, an FTII alumnus, said he was looking forward to the screening of the film in Busan.

“It is truly wonderful to have our Asian premiere at Busan IFF. It means a lot to me and our team as Busan IFF is the most prestigious venue for Asian filmmakers and has produced some of the best talent over the years.

"I look forward to our screening in Busan, South Korea, and am grateful to the selection team at the Busan International Film Festival," the filmmaker said in a statement.

"In Retreat" had its world premiere at the ACID Cannes Sidebar event at the 77th Cannes International Film Festival in May.

"Between late autumn and early winter, a man returns home to a small mountain town. Fifty years old, always absent and late, having not attended his brother's funeral, he finds himself on the threshold of the old house remains lying – what more can he expect than to delay their arrival by another night," read the synopsis of the 75-minute film.

The Busan International Film Festival will be held from October 2 to October 11.
