'Chief Sevadar' Madhukar was named as the main accused in the FIR lodged by the police. Earlier, a reward of Rs 1 lakh was also announced for anyone providing information about his whereabouts.

The arrest comes a day after police arrested six people in connection with the stampede. All of them were members of the satsang organizing committee.

The stampede took place on July 2 during a satsang of self-styled godman and preacher Narayan Sakar Hari alias 'Bhole Baba'.

According to the FIR, more than 2.50 lakh people attended the congregation, while the administration had allowed only 80,000 people.

According to the FIR, the satsang organizers tried to hide the actual number of people at the event by hiding evidence and throwing slippers and other items of the saint's followers in nearby fields.

A stampede broke out when many devotees rushed to collect the soil from the preacher's feet, believing that it could cure all their ailments. Eyewitnesses recalled how people fell one after another, their bodies lying on top of each other.

Meanwhile, the police are actively collecting information about Narayan Sakar Hari's background, and teams have been sent to cities where he has possible criminal records. However, his name has not been mentioned in the FIR.
