Mumbai: Shiv Sena MP and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son Shrikant Shinde said on Saturday that he is not interested in becoming a minister at the Centre.

Srikanth won from Kalyan Lok Sabha seat for the third consecutive time. His party is a component of the ruling coalition in Maharashtra along with the NDA which also includes the BJP.

Amid demands from some party leaders that he should become ministers, Shinde told reporters that many other MPs have worked for the party for years and should be given a chance.

He said, "If the Chief Minister asks me if I want to become a minister, I will refuse. I am more interested in working for the party and building it up."

"Being the leader of the Shiv Sena parliamentary party, his work will include coordinating with party MPs and ensuring good performance by other leaders," he said.

Shiv Sena's Thane MP Naresh Mhaske said that party leaders and workers want Shrikant Shinde to become the Union Minister and they will put this demand before Chief Minister Shinde.

Party's Hatkanangle MP Dhairysheel Mane also made the same demand.

Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena won seven seats in Maharashtra in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
