The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, former Union Minister Raosaheb Danve, former Minister of State Pankaja Munde and state unit chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, among others.

A senior party functionary said the core group has decided to identify the seats that the BJP can claim during seat-sharing with Shiv Sena and NCP. During the 2019 elections, BJP had won 106 seats, so it was decided to analyze these seats as well as some more. There was consensus that the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP would have to fight the upcoming assembly elections collectively to retain power, especially after their disappointing performance in the Lok Sabha elections.

"BJP is going to prepare a blueprint for the assembly elections. On this basis, the number of seats, selection of candidates and election campaign strategy will be decided. Another meeting of the core committee will be held soon as yesterday's meeting was preliminary, especially after the state leaders met Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently,'' another party functionary said.

Besides this, the core committee also discussed the party's strategy for the State Council elections to be held on November 12. Considering the current strength of 103 MLAs and 8 MLAs from small parties and independents, five candidates from the party can be elected from the quota. 23 votes. The committee will shortlist about 10 names, which will be sent to the central leadership.
