Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (SP) president Sharad Pawar on Thursday said the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is expected to win 30 to 35 Lok Sabha seats out of the total 48 in Maharashtra.

The former Union minister said people are yearning for change and this will be reflected in the Lok Sabha election results that will be declared on June 4.

Speaking to reporters in nearby Satara district, the Rajya Sabha MP said the opposition parties would significantly improve their performance in the state in the ongoing parliamentary elections compared to the 2019 elections.

MVA is a state-level alliance comprising Congress, NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT).

"In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress got one seat, (undivided) NC got four seats and AIMIM got one seat. But this time, it seems our seat tally will be between 30 to 35. People are looking for change. And the trends show that Congress, NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) will get the support of the voters.

Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second highest number of seats after Uttar Pradesh (80). Of these, voting has taken place in the first three phases of elections on 24 seats, while the fourth and fifth rounds of voting will be held on May 13 and 20 respectively.
