"A victim had filed a complaint on June 10, in which she said that a person from Tikamgarh created a fake Facebook account in the name of DIG, Chhindwara Range Sachin Atulkar and called her from Tikamgarh and cheated her. The accused also raped the woman," Chhindwara Police said in a press release issued on Wednesday.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the case, which includes Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Women's Cell Priyanka Pandey as well as Cyber ​​Cell officials.

The release said that the SIT team has collected information about the accused through the social media monitoring cell.

Based on the complaint of the victim, Chhindwara police registered a zero FIR under sections 376 (2) (n) (rape during live-in relationship), 343 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code at Mahila Police Station, Chhindwara.

The police also sent the case to the concerned police station of Tikamgarh. Further investigation is underway.
