The state government has decided to transfer the Religious Trust and Endowment Department from Bhopal to Ujjain. This department, which comes under the religious department of the state government, is currently functioning from Satpura Bhawan, Bhopal.

Interestingly, the name of the department was changed to 'Adhyatma' during the Kamal Nath government, which was later changed to Religious Trusts and Endowments during the tenure of former Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who hails from Ujjain, has directed officials to form a task force of senior officials from more than a dozen departments.

The task force includes Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary level IAS officers from all departments including Ujjain district administration and police. Each has a specific role to play in the preparation.

The MP government led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has already allocated a fund of Rs 500 crore for this mega international religious-cum-spiritual event in 2028. This budget will be spent on development works including roads in Ujjain and surrounding 10 districts.

The central government will also provide funds for Simhastha. State Finance Minister Jagdish Deora, who attended the Council of Finance Ministers meeting in New Delhi a few weeks ago, has said that the Center has assured to provide adequate funds for the Simhastha Mela.

Last time, the Simhastha Mela was held between 22 April to 21 May 2016. It is celebrated on the banks of river Shipra and lakhs of people from all over the world come to Ujjain on this occasion.
