Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will reach the state capital Bhopal on Sunday on his first visit after becoming the Union Agriculture Minister.

Chauhan had taken charge as Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new cabinet on June 11. He has also been given the charge of Rural Development Ministry. The senior BJP leader became a Union Cabinet minister for the first time in his more than three-decade-long political career.

Bharatiya Janata Party in collaboration with many social and employee organizations has made preparations for his grand welcome at more than 65 places in Bhopal.Chauhan will leave from Delhi this morning by Shatabdi Express and reach Bhopal station at 2:15 pm, where BJP workers and supporters will welcome him. The party said in a release that during his journey by Shatabdi Express, local BJP workers will give Chouhan a grand welcome at Morena, Gwalior and Bina stations in the state.

Chauhan will be welcomed by Bhopal BJP workers on platform number 1 of Bhopal railway station. Minister Vishwas Sarang on 80 feet road from Bajaria, Vidisha MLA Mukesh Tandon on the overbridge, BJP Minority Morcha between Musafir Khana and Mosque and Sikh community in Sabzi Mandi.

Kurwai MLA Harisingh Sapre, Minister Karan Singh Verma and Swarna Samaj's Durgesh Soni will also welcome Chauhan.

Chauhan will also be welcomed by Sironj MLA Umakant Sharma, Jagdis Yadav of the State Teachers Association, former Public Works and Law Minister Rampal Singh and the Gurjar community of Madhya Pradesh.

Bhojpur MLA Surendra Patwa, state ministers Krishna Gaur and Dharmendra Lodhi, Gaya Prasad Keer of Keer Samaj and Rajaram Shivhare of Kalar Samaj will also welcome the former CM of Madhya Pradesh.

It is noteworthy that Chauhan had won from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat of Madhya Pradesh and he defeated Pratapbhanu Sharma of Congress by a margin of 8,21,408 votes.Chouhan, a six-time MP, has wide administrative experience and was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from 2005 to the 2023 state assembly elections, except for 15 months when the Congress came to power after the 2018 assembly elections.

A day earlier, Chouhan reviewed preparations for the Kharif crop season and in a review meeting stressed the need to ensure timely availability of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides for the upcoming Kharif season.

After reviewing the preparations for Kharif season 2024 with officials of various departments, Chouhan instructed them to ensure timely distribution and quality supply of input materials for crops.

He said any disruption in the supply chain leads to delay in sowing, affecting production and should be avoided at all costs.

The Minister directed the concerned department to continuously monitor and review the situation to avoid any difficulty to the farmers.Chouhan expressed happiness that this year the prediction of south-west monsoon is above normal. On this occasion, officials of the Department of Fertilizer, Central Water Commission and India Meteorological Department made presentations. Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Manoj Ahuja and senior officials of the ministry informed the minister about the preparations for the Kharif season.
