CHENNAI: Sune Luus' century helped South Africa bounce back from 232 for two in their second innings but India remained firmly on course for victory after the third day of the one-off women's Test here on Sunday.

Luus (109, 203b, 18x4) and captain Laura Wolvaardt (93 bat, 252b, 12x4) led their resistance in the second essay.

But South Africa were still 105 runs away from avoiding an innings defeat, with Sneh Rana's brilliant 8 for 77 bowling out the visitors for 266 in the first innings.

Hence, the Proteas took a huge lead of 337 runs in the first innings.

This was the third-best bowling figures in a women's Test innings, behind India's Neetu David (8/53) and Australia's Ashleigh Gardner (8/66).
