This has come to light after the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal till June to campaign in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta said that Kejriwal, arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam, will not have to surrender and will have to go back to jail on June 2.

The bench rejected the request of senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Kejriwal, that interim bail be granted till June 5. June 1 is the last day of seven-phase elections. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.

Reacting to the verdict, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that bail does not mean acquittal and added that Kejriwal's release will have no impact on the elections.
