Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai on Wednesday expressed confidence that the Lok Sabha will function smoothly under the chairmanship of Om Birla, who was re-elected as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

CM Sai told reporters, "Om Birla has been re-elected Speaker of the Lok Sabha. I congratulate him. During his previous tenure as Speaker, the proceedings of the House went smoothly. I am confident that under his chairmanship the Lok Sabha Will work well." In Raipur.

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate and MP from Kota, Om Birla was re-elected as the Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha after the motion was moved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seconded by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

The House accepted the proposal by voice vote. The House echoed with 'yes' and 'no' and Protem Speaker Bhartrihari Mahtab declared Om Birla as the Speaker of the Lower House.

The opposition, which had presented K Suresh as the India Bloc presidential candidate, did not press for a division of votes.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also wished Birla and escorted him to the chair along with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and PM Modi.

The NDA, which has 293 MPs in the 543-member Lok Sabha, was able to demonstrate its clear majority to ensure that Om Birla returns to his seat in the 17th Lok Sabha.

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on 24 June and will end on 3 July.

The 264th session of Rajya Sabha will begin on June 27 and end on July 3. On June 27, President Murmu is going to address the joint meeting of both the houses of Parliament.
