New Delhi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday reprimanded DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran, saying that it has become his habit to make comments when someone is speaking.

His comments came when BJP leader Anurag Thakur was starting the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's address.

Birla said, "Senior leader Maran has developed a habit of making comments while sitting (Maran has become a habit)" and said that such a thing is wrong.

Continuing his speech, Thakur took a dig at the DMK and reminded them that a leader of his party had called 'Sanatan Dharma' a disease that should be eradicated.

“When I talk about development and legacy,” Maran is right to protest as his party leader has only made comments against Sanatan Dharma.

Thakur said, "Sanatan was, is Sanatan, will be Sanatan."

When some members of the opposition bench protested, Birla intervened and said that the member had mentioned that Sanatan would remain.

He asked, “Do you have any objection to this?”
