Bengaluru: The BJP on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the ruling Congress in Karnataka, saying the Lok Sabha election results in the state have proved that people have stood up against the 'misrule' of the Congress in just one year.

With BJP and its alliance partner JD(S) getting 19 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, party state president BY Vijayendra said the election results have once again proved that the state is the BJP's stronghold in South India. .

Speaking at an event to felicitate 19 NDA MPs, including 17 from the BJP, Vijayendra said people have blessed the alliance between the saffron party and JD(S).

He congratulated the party leaders and workers for their tireless work during the elections, which yielded good results in the Lok Sabha elections.

Vijayendra said, "We have to fight against the misgovernance of the Congress party in the state for the next four years. The election results show that people have rejected the Congress party because of its misgovernance."

He claimed that when BJP was in power, Karnataka was leading in all fields but due to one year of misgovernance by Congress, the state is losing its position.

The Congress party, which earlier won one seat, will now have won 9 seats. But, on the other hand, BJP and JDS are leading in more than 145 assembly seats in the state. Vijayendra said, our candidates have got an edge even in the constituency where there is a Congress minister.

Speakers, including Union ministers, criticized the state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the recent hike in petrol and diesel prices and the alleged Rs 94 crore scam in the Karnataka Maharishi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation.
