Chandigarh, Shiromani Akali Dal on Monday announced five candidates for Punjab and one for Chandigarh for the Lok Sabha elections, with party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal's wife and former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal fielded from Bathinda.

The party has fielded newcomer Mohinder Singh Kaypi from Jalandhar Reserve Parliamentary Constituency.

Party president Sukhbir Singh Badal announced the names of the candidates in Jalandhar, where former Punjab Congress chief KP joined the Akali Dal on Monday.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal is a three-time MP from Bathinda seat. The party has fielded former MLA Ranjit Singh Dhillon from Ludhiana, former minister Soha Singh Thandal from Hoshiarpur reserved seat and Nardev Singh Bobby Mann from Ferozepur.

Apart from this, the party has also nominated Hardeep Singh Saini from Chandigar parliamentary constituency.

With this list, SAD has so far announced its candidates for 1 parliamentary constituencies - Anandpur Sahib, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Firozpur Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Faridkot, Sangrur, Amritsar, Fatehgarh Sahi and Patiala.

The party has not yet fielded its candidate from Khadur Sahib seat.

The last phase of voting for 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab and the lone Chandigarh seat will be held on June 1.
