Speaking to media persons here, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole said large parts of the state are facing severe shortage of water for drinking, livestock and agricultural purposes.

“Most dams and reservoirs are running almost empty and there is little or no water, people in thousands of villages and hamlets do not have drinking water. There is no water for farm animals and agriculture,” Patole claimed.

In the dire scenario and with monsoon being at least a fortnight away, he called on the state government to make arrangements for drinking water, fodder for animals and farming in the water-scarce area.

Elaborating further, Patole said that people in the state, especially rural women, are facing great difficulties in getting minimum drinking water, their animals do not have fodder and water, resulting in affected milk production. Used to be.

“Many cities and towns are getting water once in 10-12 days, at least 2 districts are facing severe water crisis and the situation is critical in Marathwada. We had warned in January that the state would face water problems, but Mahayuti allies were busy with infighting and election preparations,” Patole claimed.

Now that the elections are over, the government should pay attention to the problems of the people and take immediate steps to solve the water-fodder crisis, setting up star fodder camps and deploying tankers to deliver water to critical areas. Should, he urged.

Patole also said that if necessary, the government should relax the code of conduct and take decisions on these issues on top priority.
