Noida: Restaurants and hospitals here are offering discounts on their services to citizens going to vote in the Lok Sabha elections on April 26.

The initiative called "Democracy Discount" allows citizens to avail 20 per cent discount at restaurants in Noida and Greater Noida by showing their finger with voter ink on April 26 and April 27.

The National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI) has encouraged member companies to take up the initiative, with nearly two dozen restaurants in the constituency joining as of Wednesday.

Restaurants offering the discount include Desi Vibes, Kafia, I Sake Newton, De Valentino Cafe, Noida Social, Getafix, Osteria, Chica Loca, F Ba Noida, Zero Courtyard Garden Galleria, Dirty Rabbit, Baby Dragon, Trip Tequila, Cafe Delhi Are included. According to NRAI, The Heights, Ching Singh, Paso Noida, Moire Café & Lounge, The Beer Café, Sky by Swagth, 'Imperfecto and The Patiala Kitchen."The idea is to encourage citizens to vote more," said Varun Kheda, head of NRAI's Uttar Pradesh unit.

Naresh Madan, owner of Imperfecto, said it is a "win-win situation" for citizens, who can participate in election voting and also dine at a discount at his three restaurants in the constituency.

"Customers will just have to show their fingers stained with voting ink and they will get the discount. We will not even ask for other ID proof, just the voting ink is enough," Madan said.

Gautam Buddh Nagar, home to the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida in western Uttar Pradesh, with over 26 lakh registered voters, will go to polls in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26.Meanwhile, hospitals are offering free complete physical examinations to voters.

Felix Hospital in Sector 137, Noida is also offering 100 per cent discount on full body check-up to voters under its initiative "Vote for a Healthy India".

Dr DK Gupta, CEO and Chairman, Felix Hospital, said, “Citizens can visit the hospital and avail free full body check-up worth Rs 6,500 by showing the voting ink mark on their finger. This offer is available from April 26 to 30. will be." told .According to Election Commission data, Gautam Buddh Nagar recorded 60.47 percent voting in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, 60.38 percent in 2014 and a very low 48 percent in 2009.

The data shows that the constituency has consistently recorded voter turnout below the national average of 67.40 per cent in 2019, 66 per cent in 2014 and 58 per cent in 2009.
