Sultanpur (UP), BJP leader Maneka Gandhi, who is seeking a second term from Sultanpur, said on Sunday that her focus is on local issues and this time the scope of her victory will be larger.

However, the former Union minister refused to comment on BJP not giving ticket to his son Varun Gandhi from Pilibhit.

He said, Varun will soon campaign for him in Sultanpur.

In an interview to , the eight-time MP said she was only concerned about the problems of her constituency and did not want to comment on the BJP's call to wipe out the Congress from Rae Bareli.

When asked about the BJP's promise to eliminate the Gandhi family from Rae Bareli, he said, "I don't have any comment...I am concerned about the problems of my constituency and the people here."

Amethi and Rae Bareli are close to the district. This time, while Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli, Gandhi family loyalist KL Sharma has contested against Smriti Irani in Amethi.

Maneka Gandhi, who won from Sultanpur by a margin of 14,000 votes in 2019, said, "This time my victory margin will be bigger."

He also said that the people of his constituency are happy with the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya but "it is not an issue in the elections here."

The BJP leader is contesting against SP's Ram Bhual Nishad, while BSP has fielded OBC candidate Udraj Verma.

Asked if she was expecting a ministerial berth if the BJP forms the government again, she said, "It is not in my hands. It is the prime minister's prerogative."

With its leader Sanjay Nishad becoming a minister in Uttar Pradesh, BJP is confident of getting the benefit of about two lakh Nishad (fisherman community) voters.

Voting will be held in the sixth phase in Sultanpur on May 25.
