This unprecedented initiative gives the elderly and persons with disabilities (PWD) the option to vote from home in the presence of polling staff, with the confidentiality of voting also carefully maintained.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Union Minister Murli Manoha Joshi also cast their votes using the same facility on Friday.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, the entire process witnessed a "wonderful welcome" from voters from all parliamentary constituencies of the national capital.

More than 81 lakh voters above 85 years of age and more than 90 lakh PwD (persons with disabilities) voters are registered across the country.

ECI says this initiative is an important step towards ensuring inclusivity and accessibility of the electoral process and promoting democratic participation.
