Panaji: Counting of votes for Goa's two Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven rounds each on June 4, an Election Commission official said on Saturday.

The official said that there will be 157 counting tables in North Goa, while the figure for South Goa is 161.

"On June 4, counting of votes will be held at Damodar College, Margao for South Goa seat and Polytechnic College, Panaji for North Goa seat," he said.

According to Election Commission data, the Lok Sabha elections in the coastal state were held on May 7, with 76.34 per cent voting in the North Goa seat and 73 per cent voting in the South Goa seat.

In North Goa, sitting BJP MP and Union Minister Shripad Naik was contesting against Congress's Ramakant Khalap. This is a BJP stronghold which Naik has been winning since 1999.

The South Goa seat is currently held by Congress's Francisco Sardinha, who was replaced by Viriato Fernandes by the party for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His competition is with BJP's Pallavi Dempo.
