Nagpur: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat was among the first voters to cast his vote in Nagpur on Friday when voting began in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

Bhagwat exercised his franchise at a polling booth in the Mahal area of ​​the city soon after polling began at 7 am.

Speaking to reporters after casting his vote, the RSS chief urged people to come out in large numbers and vote keeping the interest of the country in mind.

“Voting is both our responsibility and our right. We outline the future of our country for the next five years. So, the first thing I did today was to vote.”

The RSS chief also said that there should be 100 percent voting.

Voting is being held in five Lok Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra's Vidarbha region - Nagpur, Ramtek, Chandrapur, Bhandara-Gondia and Gadchiroli-Chimur - in the first phase of the seven-phase parliamentary elections.

In the first phase across the country, voting is being held on 102 seats in 21 states and union territories.
