Hyderabad: Claiming that the ongoing elections are a referendum on whether reservation should continue or be abolished in the country, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said the quota will be abolished if the Congress comes to power at the Centre. Will increase by more than 50 percent.

Addressing a party program here, Reddy warned that every vote in favor of the BJP will motivate the saffron party to end the reservation system.

“Not only will we continue reservation for SC, ST and OBC, but Congress has a clear policy of giving more than 50 per quota to these classes.

If this system (reservation) is to be implemented then please support or if reservation is to be abolished then vote for BJP or NDA,” Reddy said.

The Chief Minister appealed to the voters to elect the Congress Party on the 14 Lok Sabha seats of Telangana so that it can take the responsibility of protecting the reservation and also increase it.

He said, "This election is a referendum on whether reservation should exist or end in this country."

Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the country has raised a debt of Rs 113 lakh crore in the last ten years under the NDA regime, while a debt of Rs 55 lakh crore has been raised under different governments from 1947 to 2014.
