Excise Inspector Rajesh Naik told IANS that the seizure was made at Patradev check post in the northern district of the coastal state.

"We stopped a truck at the check post and found about 530 cases of vodka and 190 cases of beer, which are worth about Rs 42.46 lakh," Naik said. He said the driver of the vehicle has been arrested.

"This consignment was bound for Maharashtra. We are verifying whether it was sought for elections," he said.

Ten days ago, excise officials had seized 1,250 cases of whiskey branded 'Goa Whiskey', worth Rs 30 lakh, at the Patradevi check post.

The container vehicle laden with cases of whiskey was going to Telangana.
