Imphal: Several areas of Manipur were submerged due to continuous heavy rains on Tuesday, affecting normal life.
Traffic was affected at Andro Parking, Chekon Mahabali and Wangkhei due to waterlogging caused by blocked drains in Imphal East district.
Major roads in Kakwa in Imphal West district were also submerged, affecting traffic, he said.
There is no news of any death or injury due to heavy rain, the official said.
A heavy train triggered a landslide near Sinam village in Kangpokpi district on the N37 Imphal-Silchar highway, sending a truck into a ditch. Officials said several other trucks were stuck waiting for excavators to remove the debris.
Many rivers are in spate in Senapati district and flood water has entered many areas of the district.
He said that due to continuous heavy rains, many rivers of Imphal valley including the largest river Imphal are in spate.
