The decision to reopen was taken after discussions between the interior ministers of the two countries in the Libyan capital Tripoli.

Full operations at the crossing are scheduled to resume on June 20, Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday.

Located 170 km west of Tripoli, the Ras Ajdir crossing was closed on 19 March due to an attack by a "criminal group".

It serves as an important route for travelers between the two North African countries.

During their meeting, Libyan Interior Minister Imad al-Tarabelsi highlighted current issues affecting traveler movement, including smuggling and problems with travelers with similar names.

He said both sides are carrying out cross-border maintenance and upgrades to meet international standards.

For his part, Tunisian Interior Minister Khaled Nouri expressed Tunisia's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Libya and addressing the challenges affecting the flow of travelers across the border.
