"The people's struggle has borne fruit and the BJP's conspiracy to weaken Delhi's public schools has been thwarted. On July 2, the BJP, through the LG, had transferred 5,000 teachers from the schools overnight. Delhi public schools, teachers, children and other parents that any conspiracy to undermine the educational revolution will not be allowed to succeed," he said in a post, in Hindi, on X.

"Today, the people of Delhi have won as the LG has withdrawn the order. This is a message to the BJP to stop conspiring against Delhi public schools," he added, congratulating the teachers and the people.

The lieutenant governor's suggestions came when he met a delegation of teachers, led by state BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva. Several deputies from the capital were also part of the team.

"HLG had received several representations from different government school teachers' associations and met their delegation at Raj Niwas today," Raj Bhavan said in a series of tweets.

"HLG Shri VK Saxena, who constantly strives to improve the conditions of service for government employees, so that they can perform optimally, has advised the Principal Secretary and Director of Education to take a comprehensive, holistic and fair view of the recent transfer orders related to teachers," he said, adding that he has suggested that the orders be kept on hold in the meantime.

The transfer was supposedly mandatory in cases of teachers who had completed 10 years in a particular school, according to a Directorate of Education circular issued last month.

Atishi, who had issued written directions to the Directorate not to proceed with the transfers, on Thursday asked Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to immediately stop the transfers as there were also allegations of corruption in the process.

"This order is absolutely wrong and contrary to education," he said.
