New Delhi [India], Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Sunday reviewed the progress of works under DDA's ambitious Delhi Gramodaya Abhiyan and directed the agencies concerned to complete all the works by August this year.

"Under the ambitious "Delhi Gramodaya Abhiyan", 416 projects/works worth Rs 364.38 crore are already being implemented, LG VK Saxena on Friday directed the concerned agencies to complete all the awarded works by August this year. Saxena , who chaired a review meeting of all agencies including DDA, MCD, I&FC department, PWD etc., directed him to ensure strict monitoring of the projects, according to the press note of the Delhi LG office, so that the quality of work being done is ensured. There should be no scope for any delay or compromise.

The Lieutenant Governor was informed that these 416 projects will be executed at a cost of Rs 418.11 crore, out of which funds of Rs 273.70 crore have already been released, while the remaining amount of Rs 144.41 crore is in the process of being disbursed within a week. Is. Time.Most of these 416 projects are being implemented by DDA and the remaining are being implemented by various agencies under the supervision of DDA. It may be recalled that the campaign was launched in November and December 2023 on the request of the villagers. According to the press note, the dialogue was held by LG, Saxena after a visit to various villages of Delhi and an extensive interaction with the villagers at Raj Niwas, DM and DDA, MCD, DJB on January 2, 2024. Adi officials visited various villages on 2 occasions in January 2024, stayed there and inquired from the residents about their needs and shortcomings.

The projects under Delhi Gramodaya Abhiyan were formally launched on March 11, 2024 by Union Home Minister, Amit Shah along with the then Minister MoHUA and LG, Saxena.

During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor reviewed the development works being carried out in each district and directed the concerned District Magistrates to personally monitor the progress and quality of the works.The following instructions were issued by the LG regarding monitoring/implementation of the projects: The District Magistrate will personally visit the area and review the progress of the works from time to time.

The works/progress reports submitted by the concerned agencies should be cross-checked and physically verified by the concerned DM.

All ongoing projects will be listed on the web portal for e-monitoring every fortnight. Before and after photographs of the actual work will have to be attached with the progress report. No report will be accepted without photographic/video evidence.Contractors will have to give a warranty of five years for every work executed by them.

“EMD of contractors will not be refunded in one go and instead 20% per year will be released depending on the quality of work executed by them,” the press note said. If it is found that the quality of the completed project is not up to the mark, the press note said. If so, the contractor will have to rebuild it.

“The LG was informed that most of the works being carried out relate to construction/renovation of community centres, village chaupals, crematoriums, panchayat ghars, sports infrastructure, repair of roads, lighting of dark places etc. He was informed that 37 crematoriums Various villages in the Ghats are being renovated as per the demand of the villagers.Saxena directed that the possibility of providing electric and gas based furnaces at every site should be explored to ensure that trees are not cut to procure wood for this purpose. The LG directed officials to pay special attention to construction/renovation of cremation grounds in villages to ensure that the last rites are performed in the most dignified manner. He also directed to provide public facilities including proper seating areas at these cremation grounds. The DM was specifically directed to ensure proper maintenance of the cremation grounds with the help of local people as well as NGOs. Saxena also planted flowerbeds on the borders of the cremation grounds to give them a green and aesthetic look. Gave instructions to plant trees.A particular species of flowering trees like Jacaranda, Gulmohar, Amaltas etc. will be planted at each cremation ground.

"The LG was informed that so far only a work estimate of Rs 418 crore has been approved, while about Rs 540 crore is still available. On this, the LG asked all the agencies to re-visit the villages, interact with the villagers. Instructed to consult and outline temporary large projects like dispensaries, libraries, drainage, water bodies etc., the press note said.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, ACS (Revenue), ACS (I&FC), Principal Secretary (PWD), VC (DDA) and Commissioner (MCD) and DMs of all the districts.
