In New Delhi [India], Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday criticized the Congress Party for wanting the vice president's post in exchange for providing support for the Lok Sabha speaker's post and said setting conditions is wrong.

Talking to reporters, Rijiju said, "For the last two days, we have been in touch with the main opposition parties and discussed the post of Speaker. Since the country became independent, there has never been an election of the Speaker, and "We want the Speaker to be elected unanimously and without opposition, so we contacted them and made an appeal."

Informing about the meeting with Congress, Rijiju said, "Today we had a meeting with Congress leaders. We asked them for support for the Speaker, but they said they would support him but wanted the post of Vice President. I told them that the election process For both positions it is different. The election process for the President is carried out before the Vice President, so it is not correct to combine both.

Rijiju further said that the post of vice president was given to the opposition party in 1991.

He criticized the Congress for imposing conditions to extend its support to the post of Speaker and said: "The tradition has been that the Speaker is elected unanimously and that has been a practice. Let us not break conventions and tradition and put conditions on the Speaker." The post itself is incorrect. "I once again appeal to the Congress party to follow tradition and convention and elect the new Lok Sabha Speaker unanimously."

"The attitude of the Congress Party was clear: they want the Speaker's post in return for supporting us for the Speaker's post. I again ask them to think about keeping in mind the dignity of the Speaker's post," Rijiju said.

He further added, "We have the numbers, but still we request that there be no election for the post of Speaker because this post does not belong to any party."

Rijiju urged the Congress Party to extend its support to the Speaker's post and said, "With an open heart, we have said that we will discuss the process of electing the post of Vice President, but first, let us decide on the Speaker. Once it is "When finish, we will also reach the vice president.
